What is RCL: Career Resources?
RCL: Career Resources is a core list of curriculum-focused materials recommended for use at community, junior, or vocational college. The resources presented cover traditional print monographs and textbooks as well as online resources.
Who is supposed to use RCL: Career Resources?
The great thing about a reference like RCL: Career Resources is that it can be used by your library staff, faculty, and students. Your staff can rely on the reference to provide the most comprehensive options available for growing your collection. Faculty can use RCL: Career Resources to help develop their curriculum and to select the most appropriate materials to complement their teachings. And, the easy to understand format even lets students use this reference for classwork or as a resource for term paper research.
How many items are in the list?
Currently, RCL: Career Resources offers approximately 4,500 individual titles, and is updated quarterly.
How is the list presented?
The core list presented online includes the 65,000 resources selected for four- year institutions (although you can limit your searches to Vo-Tech titles only). The electronic list also benefits from quarterly updates as new resources are identified.
What type of information is provided?
Listings in the online version contain (if applicable) title, author, publisher, date published, cover image, page count, Dewey Number, LC Class Number, RCL Subject Headings, ISBN-10, format, status, country of publication, language, Choice review, and synopsis. The online version can also be used with Bowker’s Book Analysis System which instantly identifies items found in RCL that are not in your collection.
What subjects are covered?
There are 56 subjects grouped under nine major headings: Allied Health, Building and Construction Trades, Business, Communication, Criminal Justice and Law, Education, Engineering and Technology, Graphic and Apparel Arts, and Sciences, and Social Services. All are common areas of vocational or technical study at the community college level.
Who selected the items?
Nearly 60 of your peers from numerous community, technical, and career colleges have contributed to this project and selected titles based on their experience in the field.
