ABOUT RCL

Resources for College Libraries (RCL), the premier core list for academic libraries, is the result of a unique collaboration between Choice, a publishing division of ACRL, and bibliographic authority Bowker. RCL is considered the long-awaited successor to the third edition of Books for College Libraries, published in 1988. This collection of recommended titles serves as the basis for a suite of resources for curriculum-development, student research, reference, and bibliographic instruction.

Combining Choice's editorial experience and Bowker's workflow functionality tools, RCL is a premier resource necessary for academic libraries of all sizes. As a core list of hand-selected print and electronic titles, RCL benefits from the expertise of more than 300 subject editors and contributors. The resource covers 58 curriculum-specific subject areas and is available in a print and web-based edition. In addition, the core list will be used as the basis of Bowker's Book Analysis System, a collection-analysis tool that allows the comparison of RCL titles with a library's collection.
